Manuel Vicens, was the owner of a brick and
tile factory, so the ceramic tiles pay tribute to
his employment. The yellow, zinnia-flowered
tile, designed by Gaudi, was manufactured
by Vicens.

The house is constructed of undressed stone,
rough red bricks, and colored ceramic tiles in
checkerboard and floral patterns. The facade
walls are built with visible rubble work, shown
with horizontal rows of ceramics that embody
the African marigolds that Gaudi saw on the
land before the project was begun.

The plan is asymmetrical with protruding
gables and buttresses. Rooftop towers are
influenced by Moorish architecture.

In 2008 Casa Vicens was for sale, the asking
price was 30 million euros, it remains unsold.
